We Respect Those Who Do The Work

January 28, 2021 by Danny Miranda

We respect those who do the work.

Why do we respect David Goggins? Because it wasn’t enough for him to be a Navy SEAL. So, he ran ultramarathons, set the world record for pull ups, and uses his story to inspire.

Why do we respect Elon Musk? Because it wasn’t enough for him to make a fortune at PayPal.  So, he decided instead of sitting on a beach in the Carribean for the rest of his life, to create Tesla and SpaceX.

But it’s not about fame or money.

Why do we respect the dedicated monk? Because he does the work of meditation.

Why do respect the kid who’s in his fourth month at the gym? Because he’s lifting the weights.

We respect those who do the work.

Let it be clear: we shouldn’t do the work to get others to respect us.

We should do the work to respect ourselves. The more you lean into the work, the more you respect yourself. Because the work is what separates you from living up to your highest version.

The work is always open to us. No matter if we’ve “made it” or we haven’t. And that’s the beauty of the game.

The more we respect the work, the more we respect ourselves.

Respect The Work, Respect Yourself

Content Is Energy

January 25, 2021 by Danny Miranda

When Jay-Z met Linkin Park for the first time, they made “Numb / Encore.”

On YouTube alone, the song has more than 100,000,000 plays (over a hundred, or maybe thousand, from me).

There was something so cool to see how the music got made. At that moment, they were making something that would change lives.

That’s when it hit me…

Music is energy.

Jay-Z and Linkin Park were bottling up their energy. So the world could hear it.

Which made me realize that all content is energy.

YouTube videos, podcasts, tweets. It’s all energy.

This post is energy.

Let it fuel you to conquer any challenge ahead.

Full Screen Mode

January 23, 2021 by Danny Miranda

A computer is a distraction device.

You can text, work, play, listen to music, Google anything you want…

The potential is infinite.

What’s the problem?

Our mind can only do one thing at a time.

That’s why I use full screen mode. There are no tabs. There is no search bar. There is nothing that can take you away from your focus.

It tricks the monkey mind into believing, for just a moment, that the computer’s only function is what’s directly in front of you.

It sounds crazy…

But give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Yoga Feels Right

January 22, 2021 by Danny Miranda

Yoga is difficult and uncomfortable.

In the moment? It sucks.

But afterward? It feels right.

After you finish a session, your body and mind are nourished. They thank you for what you’ve done. Ringing out your spine. Putting yourself through some brief period of stress.

It’s always worth it.

(Here are my favorite routines.)

Wake Up Earlier

January 21, 2021 by Danny Miranda

Today, I woke up at 6 AM for the first time in a while.

It is currently 3:35 PM as I type this. I’ve gotten as much done today as I normally would have in two full days.

Here are some of the benefits:

  • Gets you on offense to start the day
  • More time to do stuff
  • Makes you more tired at the end of the day

I think I’ll continue to do this.
